Where do you believe Cabot has the biggest opportunity for growth?

From my perspective, I have witnessed many of Cabot’s graduates intentionally relocating both outside of our region and outside of our state. These individuals have little incentive to return to the community outside of the school system itself. While Cabot should take pride in its excellent school system being the city’s top employer, I wish to see a greater variety of businesses and job opportunities for the future generations of our community. Furthermore, it is crucial to foster a more diverse and inclusive social fabric of our city by expanding community programs and outreach.

Why do you believe you're the best person for the job?

Of our current city council, there is a clear lack of diverse age representation at the local government level. Furthermore, when one considers that the average age of the Cabot community falls in the thirties age margin, we should recognize that the lack of both a “Millennial” voice and a “Generation Z” voice is overall harmful to our city. With this in mind, I will ensure that not only is a younger point of view brought to the city council, but a recent scholar voice of the Cabot School District, which is a staple of our community. I believe that the youth of Cabot should secure a seat at the table of local government in order to set a profound precedent for each voice of the city, regardless of age, to be not merely acknowledged but valued.

How do you plan to involve residents in the decision making process in our town?

In addition to open lines of communication via my phone number, email, and social media pages, I wish to work alongside fellow council members and our mayor to establish a Cabot Youth Council. This new organization would serve as an internship for Cabot High School students to have the opportunity to gain insight on the government process and voice their concerns. Furthermore, I will commit to utilizing social media to its fullest extent; this includes responding to concerns voiced from you and recapping city council actions to keep you informed.

What makes you stand out from other candidates?

While I appreciate the hard work and dedication of my predecessors in our community, because of my recent graduation from the Cabot School District, I have the greatest insight of all the candidates regarding student life. Inevitably, this experience will lead to a greater ability for the city and the school district to strengthen their bridge of partnership. For instance, this kind of insight could help our community greatly by allowing for students to have access to unique volunteer opportunities at city functions rather than being unaware of what is available for them to do to be civically engaged.

What are your ultimate goals for the City of Cabot and what do you hope to accomplish as a city council member?

The City of Cabot has witnessed an exponential growth in population over the past two decades. At the turn of the century, Cabot was home to approximately 15,000 citizens; however, over the past two decades, in part due to the state-wide recognition of our school system, the city is now approaching a population near 30,000. This drastic escalation in population has not been met with a proportional change in the social and economic facets of our community. Now overdue, the revitalization efforts I will propose will be reflective of a growing 21st century populace. To illustrate, I propose meaningful community development in forms such as road repair, traffic alleviation, and small business prioritization. Acknowledging that I am no expert, too many times people pride themselves in their own knowledge. However, as a student, I have taken great joy in learning from others. Thus, for small businesses, for example, I will meet and communicate with many small business owners to gain their perspectives and insight to make more informed decisions and actions. I will aim to work for you, which does not include speaking on your behalf, but speaking for the community as a delegate.
